The Al-Ummah newspaper is a project of the Al-Ansaar Foundation
since 1999. As a Durban-based monthly Muslim community newspaper,
it is aptly titled Al-Ummah (Arabic for 'The Community').
The publication is focused on promoting unity in the Ummah and
a platform for Community interaction. It has been well received
by members of the community and is relied upon as a source of
information with an Islamic perspective and authentic advertising.
Primarily, the objective of the paper is the dissemination of
news about Islam and Muslims, aimed at engendering a spirit of
ukhuwwah (Islamic brotherhood). Al-Ummah is continuously reviewed
to ensure that a high quality of articles, advertisements, and
general information is maintained.
Presently 20 000 copies of the publication is being distributed
Free in the Kwa Zulu-Natal (in areas as far as Richards Bay in
the North, Port Shepstone in the South and Ladysmith/Newcastle
inland), Gauteng, Western Cape and Mpumalanga regions.
