About the Al-Ummah Islamic Newspaper

The Al-Ummah is an Al-Ansaar monthly publication focussed on promoting unity amongst unity the Ummah.  The Al-Ummah provides a medium through which Muslims interact with each other, exchanges ideas and information about themselves and most important of all serves as a means by which Da’wah is fostered.

Primarily the objective of the paper is the dissemination of news about islam and Muslims aimed at engendering a spirit of brotherhood and ukhuwah.

Structures are being put in a place to ensure that the newspaper would:

1. Become more investigative and critical of Muslims and their activities.
2. Provide a substantive alternative media for Muslims about news in general.
3. Ensure an objective perspective for non-Muslims about major news events.

Presently 20 000 copies are being distributed in KZN in areas as far as Stanger in the North, Port Shepstone in the South and Ladysmith / Newcastle inland.  The Al-Ummah is continuously reviewed to ensure that a high quality of articles, advertisements, and information is maintained. The Al-Ummah newspaper is dependent entirely on income from advertisements for its survival.
