Al-Ansaar Cultural and
Conference Centre – A Multifunctional Establishment
Perhaps the greatest apprehension expressed is whether this centre
will not be another waste of the Muslim community’s funds
on yet another brick and mortar project.
Al-Ansaar has a track record of being one of the most progressive
and active organisations in KwaZulu-Natal. We are indeed grateful
to Allah Ta`ala that we are used as mediums to accomplish His
work, alhamdulillah (praise be to god). The Al-Ansaar Foundation
is perhaps one of the very few organisations that are represented
by `Ulama’ (Muslim theologians) across the spectrum and
that has the support of the Muslim community.
Al-Ansaar initially commenced its formal operations in a cottage
at the Mariam Bee Sultan Centre in Overport, Durban. Since inception,
Al-Ansaar has operated from this venue.
Having successfully developed projects such as the Mariam Bee
Sultan Pre-School and Madrasah, Ibn Masud Centre of Excellence,
Radio Al-Ansaar, Al-Ummah newspaper and so forth, the Al-Ansaar
Foundation is in a position to build the Cultural and Conference
Centre. The organisation has outgrown its existing premises and,
to cope with the growth of existing projects as well as cater
for the ongoing development of new projects, the establishment
of the centre becomes an integral part of the Al-Ansaar Foundation’s
future strategy.
It is envisaged that the establishment of the Al-Ansaar Cultural
and Conference Centre will attract both the indigenous and the
other races in the community. We would thus provide a platform
for a greater understanding of Islam and Muslims in South Africa.
