Al Ansaar Foundation Proposed Building Project
Perhaps the greatest apprehension expressed is whether this centre will not be another waste of the Muslim community’s funds on another brick and mortar project. Al-Ansaar has a track record of being one of the most progressive and active organisations in Kwa-Zulu Natal . We are indeed grateful to Allah that we are used as mediums to accomplish His Work, Alhumdulillah. The Al-Ansaar Foundation is perhaps one of the very few organizations that are represented by Ulema across the spectrum and, the Muslim community supports our activities.
Al-Ansaar initially commenced its formal operations in a cottage at the Mariam Bee Sultan Centre, in Overport, Durban. Since inception Al-Ansaar has operated from this venue. Having successfully developed projects such as the Mariam Bee Sultan Pre-School and Madrasah, Madrasah for the Deaf and Mentallly challenged, Radio Al-Ansaar, the Ummah Newspaper, and so forth, the Al-Ansaar Foundation is in a position to build the Community and Cultural Centre. The organisation has outgrown its existing premises, and to cope with the growth of existing projects as well as cater for the ongoing development of new projects the establishment of the centre becomes an integral part of the Al-Ansaar Foundations future strategy.
It is envisaged that the establishment of the Al-Ansaar Cultural and Community Centre will attract both the indigenous and the other races in the community. We would thus provide a platform for a greater understanding of Islam and Muslims in South Africa.
The Building commenced in March 2005. The project will take two years to be completed.
