The Al Ansaar Foundation Education Projects
Ibn Masud School
After many years of expectation, the first- ever Muslim school for learners with special education needs took off this year in Overport, Durban. The brain-child one of Durban's most popular Islamic organisations, the Al Ansaar Foundation, the school caters for day learners in the 4-7 age group who are hard of hearing, partially blind and those who have other learning challenges such as autism. The new school provides a faith-based curriculum for learners with various learning difficulties ranging from those who are aurally, visually, mentally or physically challenged. This special need schools has a strong emphasis on a secular curriculum; the new school is value-based and underpinned by an Islamic ethos.
Qur’an School
The Al-Ansaar Qur’an School is now being held
for the seventh successive year. The Qur’an night school
is perhaps the only one of its’ kind in KZN. The aim
of this project is to create an understanding of the message and
impact of the Holy Qur’an.

Mariam Bee Sultan Madrasah
Our Madrasah is the cornerstone of embarking a deen with Islamic identities and instilling the roots of Imaan into young minds. Children are an Ama’anah from Allah Ta’aala and it is our duty as teachers to nurture and mould our children and impart Islamic education in the best manner, bearing in mind that we are answerable to Allah (SWT) for all our actions.

Mariam Bee Sultan Pre-School & Nursery
The aim of Mariam Bee Sultan Pre-School is to create a warm and caring environment for children in their most formative learning years, conducive to developing a well rounded individual. Mariam Bee Sultan Pre-School offers a secure environment, which improves self-esteem, enforces individuality and encourages natural curiosity and the desire to learn from each new experience without fear or failure. All classrooms are air-conditioned to make learning comfortable especially during our very hot and sticky summer.

Al-Ansaar Madressah for the Deaf and Mentally-Challenged
The Al-Ansaar Society for the Deaf is the second fully-fledged society in Southern Africa catering for the Islamic needs of the Deaf and the Mentally challenged. The Deaf Society was established in 1997 to provide a much needed facility for a hitherto neglected group of the Muslim Ummah.

Adult Literacy
Tar’biyyah, taleem and da’wah…these are the motives by which Al-Ansaar functions. Focussed on the need for daw’ah, Al-Ansaar has in conjunction with the Imdaad Literacy Movement, established literacy classes for the underprivileged. Every Saturday, special literacy classes are held in which the basic requisites for literacy are taught. Candidates are issued with a literacy competency certificate. The opportunity is used to promulgate the Islamic message.

School of Islamic Art
In 1998, Al-Ansaar launched its School of Islamic Art. Designed and targeted mainly at primary and high school students, the art school introduced courses in Islamic Calligraphy, Islamic ceramic painting, crafts and other basic arts. The classes are held during the July school vacation. Al-Ansaar envisages the expansion of this project into a full-time institute in the near future, Inshallah.

Bursary Funds
The Al-Ansaar Bursary Fund has been established to assist needy student with financial assistance to pursue tertiary education. The fund was established because Muslim students were being bypassed when Bursaries were being awarded due to affirmative action.
