Souk 2008
The official Showcase for the Muslim Business Sector

OVERVIEW

The Al-Ansaar Souk & Trade Fair came into being in December 1997. From its days as a humble Trade Fair focused on empowering small to medium business enterprises and the informal business sector, the Souk has evolved into one of the largest consumer Trade Fairs and Entertainment extravaganzas in Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal.

With over 400 exhibitors and a gate in excess of 100 000, the Souk is one of the most popular and well-attended events during the December holidays.

The Durban Exhibition Centre, home of the Souk, is strategically situated within easy access to hotels, beaches, the main arterial roads and the city centre and is not more than a 15 minute drive from most of the surrounding residential areas.

The visitor mix varies to all races, religions and income groups and the gate fees are maintained at a rate that ensures that the show is visited by most and the traders benefit financially. The Souk caters to all age groups and activities range from demos, games stations, play-centers, and an amusement park, to home décor and cooking demonstrations, as well as a car show.

The Health and Beauty extravaganza will focus on disease management, lifestyle changes, on the spot treatments in aromatherapy, reiki, reflexology, hot-stone therapy, detox, and skincare products.

The Halaal Food Fair is the platform that creates awareness of the vast Halaal food market and the availability of products.

Something for everyone means Toys for the Boys – from the latest in sports models, to accessories and car-kits, and the “Show and Shine” competition which include the good and sturdy “Golden Oldies” vintage models.
